The Quantum Dots

In the world of science, quantum dots are a recent creation that use semiconductor material to dynamically change the properties of matter. Taken literally, they are "programmable matter." Like their namesake, The Quantum Dots of Portland, Oregon dynamically shift their musical moods, creating complex, orchestral compositions that range from subtle ambient soundscapes to crushing thrashfests. Multi-instrumentalist Eric Sterling and multi-instrumentalist/vocalist Dean Blair use state of the art synthesizer technology, alternating melodic/heavy guitars, both live and programmed drums, and soaring vocals to create these highly cinematic songs.

Guest talent on their debut album, "Inventing Reality," includes Jyri Glynn of The Sins and Anguisette playing electric violin on half of the songs, Chris Gaye on bass for 3 tracks, Ned Wahl (ex-Chemlab, ex-Halo Black) on bass for a number of tracks and Jennifer Pomada (ex-roommate) playing flute on a couple of songs.

The Quantum Dots' multifaceted debut release, "Inventing Reality" available at SINisterRecords.com, Amazon.Com, TowerRecords.Com and CDBaby.Com. Encouraged by the excellent press they’ve received from such zines as Gothic Beauty, StarVox.net and Grave Concerns, The Quantum Dots are hard at work in the studio on their second album, with release anticipated in Spring 2005. Guest talent on the new disc will include NightMare Boy of The Sins, and Allison of Portland band, Medicine for Melancholy.
